ARCH - Combat bolt question...

Good Morning,

  I sat down and read the Participants Handbook tonight. There were many
  things I was confused by, not the least of which were in the archery
  section.

  The three I can think of right now are:

  1) I thought UHMW could only be done with fiberglass. It states that
     wood is acceptable. Am I just confused?

  2) While I understand the need for a stop in the heads, I didn't think
     the head in the UHMW arrows I have is a 1 1/4" stop. I thought they
     were bored out with a much smaller stop put into them. Am I just
     confused?

  3) The only mention of length of shafts is of 28". Does this mean both
     arrows and crossbow quarrels? That seems a bit odd.
