ARCH - The Hunt at the Assembly of the Contrade

This last weekend at the Assembly of the Contrade we had as part of the
activities two displays of skill in archery. A slit shoot and a hunt.

The slit shoot had a barrier with a window and a stupid guard who would
appear and disappear. Each archer was allowed to shoot six arrows, most
people hit the guard 4 times, Bruno of Raven's Thunder hit the guard 6
times!

The hunt proved to be more challenging. The hunt was a path thru the woods
with 10 "animal" targets at random ranges. Each archer was allow to bring 3
arrows on the hunt and shoot as many within 10 seconds as they could at each
station. If an arrow was damaged or lost then there were fewer arrows to
shoot at the remaining beasts. It was truely an enchanted forest because
besides the normal animals such as wyverns and liondragons there were also
found popenjays, rabbits and bear. And dread to the ones who hit the black
and white kitty :-) The best score for the hunt was again by Bruno with a
score of 13 hits, after subtracting a point for hitting the afore mentioned
kitty.

Special thanks to Dale and Plachoya for helping run the hunts throughout day
and also to Moreg and Ulsted for their help with collecting the remains of
the beasts at the end of the day.
