Lughaidh,

Thanks for the excellent questions. You WOULD be allowed to switch your bow
for the Combat Round. For all of the other rounds you should use the same
bow .

There are several reasons for allowing people to switch bows for the combat
round some of which you already state. Other reasons include but are not
limited to:

1.) A Combat Archer might prefer to use his normal combat bow when shooting
his normal combat arrows. After all they were made to work together just as
a target archer spines, aligns, and tailors his arrows specifically for his
target bows.

2.) For some archer who shoot very heavy draw weight bows it might not be
safe (or at least unwise) to shoot combat arrows out of them. For instance,
Odoceus Kynith (aka Walter the Fletcher) of Rosenfeld shoots a (I think) 70#
Howard Hill longbow. We can tell you from experience that even 1/4
fiberglass shafts are underspined for his bow and they flex and wobble too
much. Additionally, the impact from such bow probably wouldn't be good on
the combat blunt or on the IKCAC target.

As always the marshals on the field will inspect all of your equipment for
safety and shooting wooden shafted combat arrows intended to be shot of a
30# bow from a 55# bow just probably isn't going to be allowed. Now
Fiberglass shafted arrows from the same bow would be a different matter
entirely.

As for the web page goes I will have a web page for the Royal Huntsman
Tournament on the Ansteorran Archery Web Pages in a couple of days. For
details on Bonwicke 12th night, a Map, etc. check out
http://www.bonwicke.org

Always in Service,

Thank you for that information! I have heard rumors that the Royal
Huntsman tournament had already been held. Does anyone have an exact
address and time for the event? The link on their Baronial web site
does not work.

I have a question regarding the format. Are we allowed to switch
equipment for the different rounds? I really don't want to shoot an APD
off of my wooden recurve or longbow and have it take a chunk out of the
riser. And I don't think I would do very good on the rest of the
tournament with my fiberglass war bow. It would be like trying to play
a round of golf with only one golf club in your bag.
