A UHMW cored blunt is still a modified markland. Just substitute the UHMW
for the wooden core/stop. In fact in many ways it is closer to an original
markland than the Ansteorran War Quarrels or Gilli heads that you make. The
original marklands were cut and drilled from wooden dowel just as the UHMW
is cut from rod and the marklands didn't have the cone of expanding foam
behind them just as most people making UHMW cored blunts don't do that
either.

Lord Robin of Seawinds still makes UHMW cored blunts just the way he was
taught (I assume by you) to make Ansteorran War Quarrels just with different
materials. He puts the cone of expanding foam behind the head and the
leather disk in the front. His blunts are very well made and I think very
safe. Actually I think I really like the leather disk in front. I think it
helps keep a nice round, flat face that stays as close to 1.25" as possible
and I think it keeps the foam from breaking down as fast.
