There's a great big catch 22 here.  I do not believe that any award charter
says anything about having to travel, could be wrong though.  So if you
don't travel you probably won't get the award.  But if you do travel, you
can be seen as chasing the award, and still may not get it.

I have actually had some awards declined because They were affraid that the
indiviual wasn't well know enough and the room wouldn't make a big noise
when the award was persented.

I would argue that ANY recognition that archers and archery gets is good no 
matter where it takes place. Archery almost always seems to be thought of as 
a sort of stepchild that is often relegated to the scraps and leftovers of 
any sort of recognition. Lord Blackmoon has given generously of his time and 
money to make available tassels for any archers that are eligible for 
recognition according to their ranking in the Royal Rounds. An event such as 
Royal Huntsman draws a large number of archers from all over the kingdom. 
Where better to recognize one than in the presence of such a large 
population of ones peers...not Peers. Yes I will agree that some courts are 
very long, but to recognize one of my brother or sister archers, I would 
gladly suffer a sore backside from sitting a bit longer. Maybe it would be 
nice to award the tassels closer to home, I dont think that it really 
matters so long as Archery gets the time and recognition before the Crown 
and the people that it deserves.

As far as where RH or AOB are located....if there are no bids from some 
regions, I dont see that there can be complaints about where they are held. 
RH is somewhat of a different story,as it is usually tacked on to an event 
quickly to accomodate the new Crown, but my understanding is that AOB 
struggles to get bids. Put your 'money' where your mouth is and make a bid. 
If you are tired of driving north, or east, or west, or south, make a bid 
for your own region. I have yet to attend an AOB, having not had the 
financial ability or time to go in the past. I hope to go to Gilli's this 
year. Unless it was held in the absolutely farthest reaches of the Kingdom I 
would do my best to go. I have time constraints that make it hard for me to 
travel much over 5 or 6 hours. Fortunately I live in Central, so that time 
can get me to most places.

We need to be supportive of each other in our archery endevours.
