When did that change?  From what I understand, everyone on the field requires Armored Combat authorization since there are no longer non-contact missile people on the field of battle.
 
However, getting your authorization for Armored Combat as a combat archer is a little simpler than the average heavy fighter, they basically make you aware of what the basic rules are and what is or is not a counted blow. They generally dont make you go fight with a sword and board, its more to make sure you are safe on the field. 
 
Also, the difference between the thrown and hand to hand rules are basically the use of gauntlets versus demi gauntlets.  Thus, If you have demi's, you gotta throw it, you cant stand and hack with it.

Therefore my assumption is that Combat Archer are still allowed to use thrown weapons.When the concept of "Thrust and Throw" types of weapons came about it was made very clear that Combat Archers could use them as THROWN or ranged weapons but that we required a standard Armored Combat Sword & Board type of authorization to thrust/hit/block with them.Authorization, how it is handled, and who is allowed to do what with whatever authorization is handled at the Kingdom Level and not at the Society level.  So if things have changed the word needs to come from our Kingdom Missile Marshal or Kingdom Earl Marshal.  Until I receive such word otherwise I am going to continue to cover thrown weapons as part of my CA authorization process.Regards,-EA
