greetings

i just shoot to see how im doing against the other top flight archers in the kingdom ,since i've been a full time baronial , or regional, and kingdom deputy officer for the last 7.5 years straight, i don't get much practice time in - look at my scores : ( and since most kings want the huntsman at most of their events, as well as gulf war, i know on my $6000.00 a year income , that thats not gonna happen .
most times though you never find out the duties that will be expected of the winner till just before the bow out .
my problem is that while some of the huntsmen have done a great job of being at all those events, others are almost always on the list looking for a stand in, and still others you rarely see or hear from, most of the time i have stood in for the royal huntsman at northern events wasn't because a r.h. ask for help, it was because the king had no archers with him, and i went and ask if they would like me to stand in for the rh.
and yes , not being r.h. is preferable to being a bad r.h., one person could concievably undo years of good done by the archery community.

Arthur, that is what it means to be a champion for their majesties. Before entering the list, find out the duties. If I can't do the job, I don't enter. It sucks sometimes, but I would rather not be the RH than do a bad job of it.

actually thats part of the problem as i see it, each different king has a different view of what it means to be
( or what he wants to see ) , in a royal huntsman , and therefore each gives different requirements to win, and different duties to the winner.
it is my understanding that many times the target archery war point and the combat archery war point are often set in such a way that it is almost impossible for one person to compete in both .
it has also been my observation that when kings require the royal huntsman to be at most if not all of the royal procession events , that the royal huntsman usualy winds up needing stand in royal huntsmen at many of those events .
a problem for many ( including me ) is that we can't afford to travel all over the kingdom as well as take off work to go to war .
is it possibly time to divide the r.h. and have a ta huntsman , and an c.a. archer general ??
the rh representing the kingdom ta community , and the ag representing the ca community ?

      Hello,

Another problem with the current system is most of us don't know what events the crown will request the huntsman be at until the day of the shoot. i know that you are suppose to be at all of them, but that is not realistic for most of us. it would be nice to have whoever is putting on the shoot to talk to HRM and post what events will be required you be at. i know that HRM Owen has said that as many as you can get to will be fine but you absoulutly need to be at gulf. actually he said " you know that whole oath breaking with vengance thing." i think it would help if that info was part of the shoot discription.
