On the shield question, it doesn't matter if it's strapped or center
gripped, only that the hand is 4" from the edge.

The padding of camail or aventail was outside of the scope of what I was
asking about.  Perhaps an additional question?

Regarding ABS rigidity, some quick research into material specifications on
ABS and steel show that in general ABS is 1/7" as strong (yield)  as cold
rolled steel.  As such, I don't think that a material 2.5x as thick as the
minimum steel would be considered rigid as well.

I'm not sure when suprasternal notch was removed.
