Heilsa,

I have reviewed the draft Missile section of the Handbook. I do have
concerns with this draft and they are the following
:
Section I: Guidelines for All Combatants During Use of Missile Weapons -
Pg 1.

Sub-section C -
Missile Combatants shall be prepared to received blows just as any other
Combatant upon the Field and may carry, or have at hand, other weapons
as secondary/backup weapons.

1. All Missile Combatants are full contact.

2. Combatants may avoid being struck if, in the face of a charge, they
fall to the ground and loudly proclaim that they "YIELD". Other
Combatants shall refrain from striking any Combatant who has yielded .
Such a Combatant will be considered slain and must leave the field.

What if the Combatant wishes to "YIELD", but is not physically able to
fall to the ground?
This is not covered and there are a number of people who are playing or
in the future might wish to play and the only way for them to take the
Field is as a combat archer or other missile type of combatant, which
barred them from this activity.

Section III: Arrows, Bolts, And Other Miscellaneous Missile Weapons

A. Fiberglass Shafted Arrows/Bolts:

2. Shall have the shaft completely taped in a linear fashion with at
least one layer of electrical or reinforced
fiber tape over its entire length. Additional layers may be applied in a
spiral fashion if desired, but the
outermost layer should be applied in the linear fashion.

The phrase "...but the outermost layer should be applied in the linear
fashion."

This seems to be confusing, in that the shafts are taped in a linear
fashion with at least one layer of electrical or reinforced fiber tape
over its entire length. If it is the combat head is UHMW, the 1 inch of
resilient padding is applied, using contact glue, then additional tape
is applied over both the 1 inch of padding, the UHMW and anchored to the
arrow shaft (which is already been tape linearly with either electrical
or reinforced fiber tape). Once the taping of the combat head is
completed, to ensure that the tape ends do not curl up, a section of
tape - I use reinforced fiber tape - is spiral downward the shaft to
ensure that tape sections used to tape the UHMW and the 1 inch of
padding remains secure to the arrow shaft and not curl up or come loose.

The way the last phrase reads indicates that the individual building the
combat arrow would need to add one more piece of tape over what has
already been described above.

The item, which is still in Sub-section A -
Item number 4:
4. Shall have Society approved combat blunts of the following type and
restrictions:

b. Classic style Baldar Blunts head designs are legal for Armored Combat
but may NOT to be used in
Rapier Combat
     (a) Baldar Blunts must be taped such that it can be visibly
inspected for tears and proper seating

It this sub section a of b that I have an issue with.
The Classical style Baldar Blunts are black in color and there is no way
to visually inspect whether the arrow shaft has been seated properly or
not. Now if you were thinking about the defunct Egg Shape Baldar Blunt
which was clear and you could indeed perform a visual inspection for
proper seating of the arrow shaft within the interior of the Egg Shape
Blunt...

If thought process was something else in regard to "proper seating",
might wish to rethink this portion.
