Hi
Let's see what am I working on -
I'm spinning a white Corriedale fleece for the weft for my brother's wedding
coverlet, and hurridly reading up on sheep obstetrics in preparation for the
impending lambing. Also, I'm knitting the prototype of a late 1500's Scottish
bonnet. Once I get the pattern down I am going to do a "shear to shear" project
with my dearly departed Hansel's fleece. I have several chairs in various states
of being caned, splint woven and rush woven and I'm still unpacking a bit, I
haven't even put the loom back together yet.
Oh, the Sept/Oct. issue of Piecework has an artilce on the Gunnister man's
knitted items. I know it dates to 1690 but the form and construction are
identical to Mediaeval gloves, stockings etc. There is also an article on a
Mediaeval knitted bag with islamic motifs.
