[Bards] Voices of the Star

That's a good question. If you send me a filk for which the root song is widely known, then I probably won't print the music for it and just say "sung to the tune of..." If it's a less known song, I'll see about crediting it properly and printing it. The publication is not for sale, and due credit will be given, so I don't see that there would be a problem. Does anyone know more about this kind of issue? Otherwise, I'll check with the Kingdom Chronicler and see what he advises.

Alden,

As many of us write filks, what's the position on publishing of such?
My concern is the copyright issues that may arise from the use of
certain tunes, ie, those that are not in the public domain.

publication formerly known as "The Ansteorran Bard Book(let)", don't
hesitate! September is almost upon us, and the due date for
submissions is October 1. There's just a little over a month left.
Currently, the book has 7 songs and 15 poems, contributed by 12 bards.

of permission to publish it, your contact information (SCA name,
mundane name, address, email, phone) *which will be published in the
back of the book*, and if you send a song, I request either a recording
of the song, or the written music.

person who has agreed to help me write the music from recordings. If
anyone else can write music from a recording, I could use your help as
well.

additional collegium information, please contact Dona Antonia, Master
Pendaran, or myself. We're all subscribed to this list, so it's easy
to find us.
