The clothes were amazing. I loved the close up on the long, point-toed shoe
that had the ring for tying it up out of the mud.

According to the website, it was filmed in Italy, though not in Florence.
The "extras" wore their own costumes, as they put on a "medieval" pageant to
celebrate the town's history. But didn't you love Cosimo's costumes?
Including that fabulous hat!!!

I saw part one of the Shakespeare special, but missed last night's
installment. Hopefully it will come around again given that PBS is in their
fund drive mode at the moment.

I was taken with the excellent costuming in the Medici documentary. That
show stopped Jehanne in her tracks and she just kept going on about the
clothes.

Did anyone else catch the second part of Michael Wood's PBS specials?

Very keen. I'm going to have to go over to the PBS web site to see if I can
find the text of any of the Queen's Player's plays they featured.

The Medici documentary that followed totally ignored the Medici family's
patronage of the Neoplatonist poets and writers. Pout. Oh, well -- I guess
Pico Della Mirandola isn't as visual as a Botecelli.

Still, it would have be nice if they'd pointed out that Lorenzo and his
fellow Neoplatonist poets and writers were the persons who had inspired
Sandro's "vivid imagination". I think it left a lot to be desired as
history, but it was lovely ~!

BTW, I have to mention this -- that fabulous picture of Lorenzo carrying the
bloodied body of his brother from the church? Didn't happen. But it looked
great ~! Sigh....
