Most esteemed Kat,

At the risk of sounding obtuse.......what type of documentation do you require for a campfire piece, and the Ansteorran piece if it is not in period style? I am trying to get my Elfsea group ready for Eisteddfodd and want to pass on your requirements appropriately. I am looking forward to your competition and applaud your continuation of a multi-level/multi-competent competition. I hope to hear from you soon.

In humble regard,
Elanor O'Ruark

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as your Kingdom Bard for the past year. To all those I have met, and to those I have yet to meet, I look forward to sharing an evening around a campfire with you all! But, the time to choose my successor is coming near.

I am pleased to announce that the next Kingdom Eisteddfod will once again be held at Steppes Twelfth Night, on January 7 2006, AS XXXX. The format for the competition will be:

1st Round: A performance appropriate for a campfire or feast hall
2nd Round: A performance about Ansteorra or Ansteorrans
3rd Round: A documentably period or period style performance
4th and Subsequent Rounds: Bard's Choice

This will be a "single elimination" competition. The performance order will be drawn at random for each round. Half of the performers (rounded up) will advance each round. Performances in each round may be any style (song, story, poem, dance, instrumental, etc.), but the new Kingdom Bard must perform at least once in at least two different styles by the final round. Also, the new Premier Bard must perform at least one original piece at some point in the competition. Bards will need to plan their performances accordingly. Documentation is required for at least the first three rounds, and is encouraged for all rounds. Performances will be judged based on modified versions of the 50-point Ansteorran performance judging form. Judging forms and documentation guidelines will be posted on http://bard.ansteorra.org.

Eisteddfod Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. The competition begins at 11:00 a.m. in the loft. No late entrants will be accepted after the conclusion of the first round.

I look forward to all of the wonderful performances!

HL Katrina of Coventry
Premier Bard of Ansteorra
