You have a good point about audience participation. There isn't much you can do with a story or poem but I don't think giving the singer a free round is fair. Doesn't  the singer need to face challeges too?  What we have now is a process which favors the singer so the best we can do is a singer who does some stories and poetry. Sucking it up isn't the problem it is suck it up fairly.willow
