because he is currently a hospital patient.

There are MANY better qualified to answer your question than I, and 
hopefully they will respond soon... that being said, in my limited 
experience, a hauberk is done as a complete 'shirt' which is pulled over the 
head. I suppose it is possible that straps might be attached, or thongs run 
through it to allow it to accommodate someone smaller than it was built for, 
but I imagine that it would be more economical to re-size - and recover the 
valuable metal - and not carry around the extra weight!
Now, we await the experts...

Subject: [Bordermarch] chainmalle question

Hi,
I'm not part of the SCA but am sincerely interested in it, but at this time 
I'm not in a position to start going to things. That said,the reason I'm 
writing is that I have a chainmalle question, all of yall seem to know a 
great deal of history and have common sense. I have heard that old 
chainmalle hauberks had a slit up the back that had leather straps(or thongs 
if that what you want to call them) binding them together for sizing ect.. I 
have researched this online but could only come up with a mixed opinion. My 
question, In history(or in you're own travels) has anyone ever come across a 
hauberk that had a "sizing slit" all the way down the back? In you're own 
opinion, is a slit a good idea? Or is it just something somebody made up?
