As last year's days grew to an end, I requested that Bordermarch's premier spy, Nomis, and Lord Chrestien Brule, Captain and Commander of the Phoenix, keep a low profile so as to lull our neighbors to the into a sense of false security.
Although supposedly under deep cover, our two Bordermarchers did manage to surface now and again.
Lord Chrestien was recently accused of pirating 400 bottles of Ansteorra's finest vintage from the Marie la' Bierge du Morant, a merchant galley set into service to Barony Bordermarch to supply our fair people with much needed trade. Lord Chrestien was reputed to have claimed the accusation was the rant from a jealous mariner; Lord Chrestien promptly disappeared from sight.
Nomis was witnessed by members of Bordermarch while he was training some of the younger fighters in the martial art of sword and shield. When one of Nomis's better students slipped a massive blow through his defenses and cracked five of his brittle ribs, Nomis squatted and blurted out something none could understand. He then excused himself and was last seen headed east, into the evening sun.
It is with much regret and sorrow to admit that I am in need of their services once again for the gathering will soon upon us and our neighbors to the east will soon make their way to our fair Kingdom with the single intent of conquest!
I would ask Nomis to keep a watchful eye and a earful ear. I would ask Lord Chrestien Brule to set sail to the wind and gather what news he can concerning our neighbors. I would ask both to strive to capture one of the eastern spies for interrogation.
HE Elisabeth has perfected some new and potent broths that will surely ply the truth from any who might ingest their magic.
HE Santiago
