I will work gate from midnight Thursday night to 6:00 Friday morning. Sleep is for quitters and I am no quitter! This will allow me to be available during the day for other duties or situations that may arise.

Dear Populace,

We are aware that our economy is not making it easy on folks to have much fun these days and that's really sad not only for us here in SE Texas but as a nation.  However it is our duty to inform you all that in order to remain a Barony we have to have 35 total members. At this time we are at 24!  If you play but haven't recently joined or renewed your membership we are asking that you do so quickly. There are several members that have graciously sponsored a fellow SCA'er in the past. If you are able to sponsor someone or are in need of sponsorship please let us know privately and we will do our best to get you connected. dblathrop at yahoo.com / baron at bordermarch.org or 409-673-7277.

The SCA has also been in the media more lately. Please be mindful of spreading the word and sharing information in a positive manner and encourage friends and family to get to know us. If your able, print a copy of our newsletter and "pass it on!" Starting November 15 on the National Geographic Channel there will be an ongoing program about jousting which should spark a lot of conversations. Timing is everything so be prepared to answer questions. We can provide Barony business cards and brochures if needed just let us know. 

Second and as important:
We are in desperate need of volunteers at gate. BAM is two weeks away and so far we have only 10 people scheduled (3 from Bordermarch) and 42 slots to fill. As you know two people have to be at gate at all times OR we must close gate and NOT let anyone in. If you are planning on being at BAM don't wait and volunteer when you arrive. Let us know now so we can fill slots and know we are covered.I have sent out a personal request to all the other baronies asking for help however it does not reflect well on us as a Barony to only have three members listed for our own event. Please let us know as soon as you can where you can volunteer your time. The shifts are just two hours long starting at 10 am Thursday and going through 2 pm Saturday.
