[Bordermarch] Squires & Cadets (April 13-15)

Hello again!

I've gotten several verbal 'maybe/probably' commitments about Squires, and
I'm so excited! So here's what I'll be doing, hypothetically, to bring a
little comfort west with us. Feel free to volunteer, make suggestions, or
comment (especially if you have allergies or dietary restrictions) so I can
plan accordingly before the big day.

5-flavor beef (Beef cooked in sugar, soy, sherry, cinnamon & anise. The
recipe is modern, but the method/ingredients are all period.)

Rosemary or olive ciabatta (Whole wheat, olive oil, yeast, salt & added
herbs/fruit/veggies. There are few, if any documented bread recipes this
simple, but again the method & ingredients are all period.)

"Power balls" (An experiment with peanut butter, whey protein, & raw oats.
We've tried one recipe we intend to share at fighter practice this Sunday,
but I think a major overhaul will have to happen since the banana has made
them a sticky mess. Suggestions for improvement are encouraged!)

Cookies galore! (Chocolate/peanut butter/oatmeal/raisin/whatever else I
decide between now & then)

Keep in mind that this site is someone's property, and has some primitive
aspects. Water is at a premium and we are required to bring our own for
drinking, etc. Hopefully I will be able to bring one whole ice chest
devoted to water, but everyone should bring a couple of gallons for
themselves just in case. Especially if you intend to fight!

Anyone desiring to add to our feast is reminded that the middle of April
will be pleasantly scorching. Anything brought needs to handle heat, sun,
possibly breezes and still be edible & safe. My menu is anything but
exhaustive and I'm sure I'll think of more things I want to bring between
now and then.

We'll have a smallish pavilion, table, 2 (hopefully) coolers and a lot of
good will packed with us. Anything supplemental to a Bordermarch Camp is
welcome and appreciated! We won't be camping onsite, but I've heard rumor
that Lord Calvin will be, so we should have a presence there to watch over
our belongings in emergencies. Don't leave strawberries open and available
unless you intend them as a donation to his efforts, however :D

I hope to see so many of us in this trek and enjoying this day! This was
one of my favorite events growing up and I'm very excited to share it again
with our Bordermarch family!
