CR - Administrivia, "Central Region" Mailing List

Alrighty, folks, we've got the list established and subscribers in
place. Welcome to you all, and Happy New Year. I hope to see most of
y'all at Steppes Twelfth Night this coming weekend.

(DdL, you've been copied because I'm quoting you extensively below.) 

Traffic has been non-existent for now, and that is not necessarily a
bad thing. This list is not intended to echo other lists, usually. 

Fortunately, there have been no recent emergencies to plague us
which were specific to Central Region - or at least none which were
not handled swiftly and surely by those who bear responsibility for
administering the region. Of course, this just means *I* haven't
heard about any major issues. (I'll send a separate message to
generate traffic on a minor matter, non-crisis & possibly a
non-issue.)

For any who don't subscribe to the kingdom list, under my guise of
list admin for central at Ansteorra.ORG I want to forward some sage
advice from Daniel de Lincoln concerning the format of list
postings. Please note that I cannot myself usually see the problems
he describes with non-wrapping lines, so I would ask that you GENTLY
and individually inform any gentle-person whose mail fails to
display properly in a direct message (and after checking your own
setup). 
If the condition continues, let me know -- in a direct message --
and I'll add a word as List Admin, again directly to the user
perceived to be creating the problem, with escalation as needed.

automatic line wrap (lines longer than the screen width are split at
word boundaries to fit), and some do not.  Accomodating non-wrappers
does not really hurt wrappers, but using long lines can hurt
non-wrappers (when text is hidden, bad line breaks in the middle of a
word happen, or the screen becomes confused about how many lines are
on it).

Therefore, please hit Enter / Return / whatever no more than every 70
characters or so.  80-column widths are moderately comon, especially
in terminal emulators, and 70 allows for "> " quoting several layers
deep with convenience.
