Thank you for your kind words, Lord Lawrence. As I said at the time of Ulsted's
announcement, I do not feel worthy of the honor, but I will strive to become so.

The "Defenders of the Coast" is an inter-barony group consisting mostly of
members from Stargate, Loch Soilleir and their Cantons. We have a few members
from Ravensfort and Bordermarch as well. All told, I believe that we have about
15-20 who routinely participate in our monthly melee practice.

Our numbers have recently grown considerably with the addition of several
ballista crews. I'll get you better numbers as they firm up. Presently I would
guess we have added somewhere around 6 people who are training specifically as
siege weapon crews.

The baronies of Loch Soilleir and Stargate have their combined official fighter
practice every Tuesday night at the University of Houston main campus, entrance
13 off of Cullen. We usually practice from 7 pm until about 10 pm. The first
Tuesday of each month is our time to practice melee tactics and weapons,
although we usually have at least once skirmish at the other practices too,
depending on how many fighters are present. Our emphasis has been on the basics:

- moving as a unit, loose or tight depending on the circumstances
- everyone keeping their heads up and issuing commands as necessary
- learning to advance, engage, and regroup without having to think about it
