Hail, kinfolk, from Michael Silverhands:

Istanpitta, the Medieval "dance band" I play percussion with, has some
performances coming up soon. They are:

Friday, November 17 - 8-10 pm
Borders bookstore, 9633 Westheimer near Gessner

Sunday, November 19 - 7-9 pm
Borders bookstore, 3025 Kirby near Alabama

Thursday, November 30 - 7-9 pm
Borders bookstore, 3025 Kirby near Alabama

Sunday, December 10 - 6-8 pm
Borders bookstore, 9633 Westheimer near Gessner

Tuesday, December 19 - 7-9 pm
Borders bookstore, 9633 Westheimer near Gessner

Thursday, December 21 - 7-9 pm
Borders bookstore, 3025 Kirby near Alabama

The music is mostly instrumental, although there are some vocal pieces too.
Most of the music is dance music from the Middle Ages (12th-14th century),
mostly from France, Italy, England, and Spain. There are a few Middle
Eastern pieces (e.g. Turkey). The intent is to give an overall flavor of
what popular dance music would have sounded like in Europe during the Middle
Ages. I find the music to be extremely nice, and on many of the dance tunes
it's hard to keep your feet still!

Master Avatar of Catsprey (from Loch Soilleir) is the leader, and plays Oud,
Saz, Krummhorn, Flute, period Bagpipes, and other instruments. Lady Clare
Margaret (from Wiesenfeuer) plays Vielle and Cornamuse. I play percussion. We
all sing a bit, 'though Clare Margaret does most of the singing. (Once you've
heard us, you'll be as glad of this as Avatar and I are. :-)

All performances are free. I hope to see some of you there! :-)

Yours,
Michael
