[Coastal] Seawinds Coastal Invasion and War Practice!

Greetings to all good Gentles of Ansteorra,

The Shire of Seawinds invites one and all to come and help defend the shores
of Ansteorra from foreign invaders! We have a new, more spacious site that
is Siege Weapon and Combat Archery friendly, so bring all your war toys!

Because of the proximity to Gulf War, we are having a war practice in the
morning with melees for both Heavy and Rapier Fighters in the afternoon.
Duke Kein is hosting the war practice with Lord Evets hosting Siege practice
and Lord Robin hosting Combat Archery.

Seawinds Coastal invasion will take place at Duval County Park. This
beautiful facility is located in Duval County - an area of South Texas that
is rich in history. It is said that the Spanish Explorer Alvar Nuñez Cabeza
de Vaca (1528-1536) traversed through this area in 1533. It is intriguing to
know that people from the time in history that we recreate were actually
here in this area 470 years ago.

Duval County Park is located approximately 3 miles south of Benavides, TX on
HWY 359. Please see map for driving directions. There is plenty of camping
space, as well as some flush privies, water spigots, and a playground for
the kids. The site opens on Friday, Feb. 28th, at 4:00pm and closes on
Sunday, March 2nd, at 1:00pm

In addition to the combat arts enjoy...

Hospitality
On Friday evening, all travelers to our fair shores are invited to the
hospitality tent (the big blue and yellow pavilion) to partake of food and
drink and to enjoy the hospitality of our Shire and the company of friends.
We will have coffee, hot chocolate and cider, and snacks and food befitting
the weather that graces us that weekend. All are welcome to bring additional
snacks and food to add to the table and share with friends.

Equestrian Quest
The Theme is the movie "1001 Arabian Nights" with Jason Scott Lee as
Aladdin, and Milli Avital as Scheherezade.  Be sure to watch the movie.

Arts and Sciences Competition
We will be having two A& S competitions at Coastal Invasion. The first
competition will be judged and documentation will be required. The second
will be a competition for those first time A& S competitors, or beginner
artisans, or even an experienced artisan embarking on a new craft. This
competition will be judged by popular vote and documentation is not required
but recommended.

Bardic Competition
There will be a bardic competition following court and feast. There is no
specific theme and it is open to bards and performers of all levels of
experience and in all areas of performing arts (singing, story telling,
poetry, instrumental, etc.). Please contact Lady Marguerite du Bois to sign
up.

Other activities include a Silent Auction, and Children's Activities, which
will be going on throughout the day.
