ES - Telenovelas

Greetings,

Does anyone out there ever watch the Mexican Soap Operas called Telenovelas?  And understand them?  I am trying to do a paper for school on them and need to find someone who can give me a rundown of the characters and the history of the show.....any one of them.  I'm trying to do it myself, but my Spanish isn't quite good enough to understand exactly what they are saying and I'm very frustrated.
