Actually I do have some input to the method of seating being proposed for
Coronation/Feast. Although I can appreciate everyone's desire to be close to
the festivities I can also appreciate that many people will be travelling
from long distances in the hope of spending time with people that they
haven't seen for a while. The best medium for socialising with those friends
is to sit together at the feast. it will be difficult to do if the seats are
assigned ahead of time.
Additionally there are lots of people (military, on call civil servants,
etc) who may have not a clue as to whether they will be able to get to the
event until the last minute. It hardly seems fair that they should be
penalized. It has always been understood that if you don't get to the feast
hall at a decent time then you are not going to get a great seat. Most
people understand this and live with it or make some kind of arrangements
with the people they hope to sit with. I think that turning our feasts into
the "Pennsic Land Grab" is going to turn people off.
