This is I know. I just thought it was funny. I am quite happy with my
own name.
As with the "Rædwaldson", yes this is a falsehood which has bothered me
for sometime. People seem to think all the German threw an "s" at the end
of the father's name and add the relation. Not true.

>Whether Bubba actually existed is another question. Do they say whether
>they are working from contemporary documents or king lists?

This particular list was from Bede who is fairly reliable and would not go
to the extent (at least not often) validating much pagan in origin.

>For example, every Scandinavian or Anglo-Saxon royal house could trace
>itself back to Odin, Thor, or Frey. The early warrior expected to be led

>the god-descended. When the royal houses converted to Christianity, Odin,
>Thor, and Frey were kept, and linked to the Old Testament, and to Adam.

I often wonder how old such a belief was because not royal families had
it. As a matter, it seems many of the Saxon ones were constructed to
continue from some of the Anglian geneologies and knows what really inspired
those. I personally feel these were more meant to signify the antiquity of
the family and not so much the godlikehood of these folk. In Germanic
literature one sees the "giants" being used very similarly as personified
time references as in " of giant smithcraft", usw.

>I have a Victorian genealogy that trails off into the king lists for Anglo

>King Coel of Rheged (old king Cole), and Joseph of Arimethea also figure.

They certainly were creative that is for sure.
