Pardon the bandwidth but I felt this was too important a topic to pass up.

I just wanted to offer a little inspiration and motivation to those who might
be thinking about this, but never have.
I have done 2 of these school demos.
The first one was for my boss's daughter's middle school class. (maybe a
little suck ing up going on here;)
They just happened to be studying history within the SCA period.
I did this by myself and was very nervous.
Before the demo, I talked to the teachers (it turned out to be 3 classes and
over a hundred kids) and got specifics on what they had studied. I was then
able to adjust my topics accordingly.
The kids were enraptured, the teachers thrilled and I had a blast. My
nervousness melted away as I talked and demoed armor, clothes and various
other SCA period artifacts. I actually ran out of time and had to be shut
down by the teachers. They couldn't drag the kids (or me) away.

The second time was with the Canton of Lindenwood. We did an all day demo in
my son's school gym. Groups of kids would be shuffled in and out throughout
the day. We had about ten people helping and were able to do a heavy fighting
demo. Once again the teachers, the kids and us were spellbound.

My favorite one and the one I will never forget was the first time. If you
get the chance, you need to do this. I promise you, you will have the time of
your life and you will never forget it,... and neither will the kids.
Oh,... and bring lots of props.
