I knwo that this is really off the subject, but I have to put my 2-cents in:

A Better way to get off of jury duty:

If you arrive late for jury duty, it could really make the judge angry (and
you could wind up spending time in the dungeon for contempt of court,
especially here in Elfsea).

This works for my parents everytime (I get to use the excuse that I'm a
single parent because my goslings are only 5 and 6...hehehe)...I got this
bit of advice from an attorney I worked for a few years ago:

Step 1: Wear a 3-piece suit and shave if your a man or if you are a lady a
professional business suit and make-up.

Step 2: Bring a hardcover book that is analytical (such as Tom Clancy or
John Grisham)...place your book mark some where around the last 1/4 of the
book. Never ever bring your Bible or other religous material!

Does this work? Yes! Why? Defense attorneys don't want people in the jury
pool that are professional, intelligent and analytical. People that usually
have these qualities do not base thier decisions on feelings and will ask
for a stronger penalty for the crime. Defense attorneys usually want you to
feel sorry for their client. People that don't usually have these qualities
or are highly religous will feel sorry for their client and judge them as
not guilty or will give them a lighter sentance.

by the way if you would like out of that jury duty and don't wish to claim
yourself morally unfit arrive about 30 minutes late.  It worked for me and
I'm off for the next 24 month :) Wiley   and then later that day I got a new
job
