Hi Maria!

Darius here Reading over your proposed Page school Plans and sending out
comments. Reading over this, I can tell we definately have different views of
what a page is. :) Which of course matters little as long as we know what we are
talking about.

I personally see a Page/gentle relationship as a more personal relationship much
like an Apprentice or a squire has with their peer. I now understand this is not
your perspective at all. (at least not for this project). My Take on this seems
to be more that you want to keep a data base of who is willing to do teaching on
an individual 1 on 1 basis, and match them with some one who wants to learn
whatever they teach. I can point out a chink in the chain on that point. If
someone were to register with this "Page Service" that they would teach say
well Pierced Metal, How many people do you think would be lining up for it?
Unfortunatly pierced work is just flashy enough that lots of people want to
learn how. and this would likley cause some exclusion of less glamerous lessons
like say name research. The only thing I can suggest on that is to work out some
sort of system so that people teaching popular subjects aren't swamped and the
less popular yet important lessons get taught as well. I know Meridies has a
system of you take a certain number and diferent types of classes and you can
earn "degrees" from the royal College. That might be an incentive system to look
into.

I guess it seems to me more like your system would be along the lines of a local
college type affair than how I concieve of pages. Which Academies and Schools
are very period. So ya know....

On an Off note a "Minister of Pages" (as a deputy to the MOC) would be an Ideal
person to organize the older children at event s into a "page for a day" type
program. THey could have a list of different activities that needed assistance
and who was in charge of those things and send out willing hands, as well as
organize a class or two durring the day to educate our youth about the SCA and
the Medieval times. That way they get activities geared more to thier age level
and a way to be a usefull part of the event thus giving them something to do.

well there is my $.02

(hey has any one else noticed they don't have a "cent" symbol on their
keyboard??)
