Xene -
Your conflict is clear. But so is the resolution.
Jovian has many friends who are peers. Threebridges
understands your desire to be there for them, but has
many other well-wishers and peer-level alumni. Anthony
has one Mom, and only one "very first" basketball game.
Years later, there is _no_ chance that anyone in the
SCA will hold against you that you came late to an
event because you were spending time with your son, who
isn't getting any younger. It's possible that, years
later, Anthony will resent that you missed his first
basketball game for one of countless SCA events
(although I rather doubt it).
Immediate family first, _then_ SCA family. We'll see
you when you get there.
