Re: [Elfsea] Kingdom Bids --- Question?Ehemmmmm, Caelin,

Philip hasn't been elevated - yet....... Unless, of course, I actually have
taken a long winter's nap and Steppes 12th night has already taken place
under Their Stellar Majesties Drakos and Sibri.....
But then, I would have missed it and I wouldn't miss Philip's Laurelling
ceremony for anything in the world!

It is possible to bid as autocrat of an event directly to kingdom without
a host group. The kingdom would become the host group. That is relatively
rare in Ansteorra, but, for instance, Master Phillip White did that with the
Known World Dance Symposium hosted at UTA. This may make the local groups a
bit edgy because the manpower for these tend to come mostly from the local
area and bypassing the local group may cause scheduling problems, burnout,
or feelings that the local work done will not get noticed.

My observation has been that direct bids without a supporting group do not
generally fair very well. If you get a bid from Elfsea, for instance, you
know they have a very good track record and will probably put on a fine
event. If you have Master Bob do it directly, he would have to convince the
powers that be that he had that kind of track record and they could expect a
fine event. It comes down to depth of support. If the Elfsea autocrat comes
down with a contagious illness a week before the event and is sick during
the event, Elfsea has several seasoned autocrats who could take over. It has
trained people to do all the jobs. If Master Bob has a heart attack the week
before the event, the event may have to be cancelled.

I think what he's asking is if someone in the barony can submit a bid that
is NOT on behalf of the barony; where the barony is not the actual host. Or
am I totally off, Synrik?

All event bids must be signed by the Seneschal, but they must be approved
by the financial committee of which the Baron and Baroness together are one
member. The financial committee approval is obviously because of the
possible financial profit/loss. The Seneschal is also a member of the
financial committee but has to look at many other issues like the people
available to put this on, the proposed site, other events we might like to
host, etc.

  In service,

Question: Is there any other circumstance, other than relying on the
Barony's Financial System (Accounts / Seed Money, etc.), where we (a
Group) would be required to gain the approval of the Baron and Baroness?
