The Scottish Gael by the late James Logan F.S.A.S Edited with memoir and notes by the Rev. Alex Stewart, of Ballachulish and Ardgour, “Nether Lochaber.” John Donald Publishers Ltd.

“This fifth volume in the Scottish Reprint Library is a reprint of the 1876 edition of James Logan’s famous work, edited and with an introduction and memoir of the author by Alexander Stewart.
The book is accepted as an accurate and scholarly account and has been described as ‘the best work that has been ever written n the origin, antiquities, traditions and national peculiarities of the Caledonian Celts’.
The two volumes total 88 pages with 6 colour plates and 55 line illustrations. Subjects covered in the book include: the origin of the Celts appearance of their country, military education and institutions, arms and accoutrements, military exploits and military tactics, the dress of the ancient Celts, their modern costume, architecture, hunting, agriculture, food, cooker, beverages, medicines, health, ships, poetry, and music, religion, costoms, marriage ceremonies, and funeral rites; and there is a table of clan tarts.”

Artair Macmora (Arthur Starkey) sent to England to get these books after a long search trying to find them. He had gotten them on interlibrary loan once or twice and really felt he needed to get a copy for his personal reference since they had so much information in them and were hard to continually get on loan. He very much enjoyed them and used them as a reference quit often. When he first found out about these books he found that they were considered to be “the bible of “Celtic life” There were only something like 25 printed originally.

I am asking $200 for the set plus shipping including insurance. They are in mint condition. Rose Macmora Nancy Starkey 103 Spring Rd Bartlesville, OK 74003 1-918-336-9120
