Greetings, Elfsea.

Another really good officers meeting has wrapped up--- and I wanted to get
the attached notes to you quickly since we are event heavy in May and some
information is time sensitive.

Many thanks to a great Officers Corps for the work they are doing.

*Monday, May 23rd at 7pm at the Bedford Public Library is our Populace
Meeting*.  I hope each of you are able to come.

Archery Marshal, Knight Marshal, Chamberlain, Nautilus Pursuivant, Minister
of Children

It is critical to create the pass-down notes for your offices.

This type of information may help demystify the duties of each position and
ensure officers are replaced in efficiently.  Officers were provided a
template of the pass-down format via email and handouts at the
meeting.  *Outgoing
officers need to do this quickly and get a copy to the Seneschal.*

Completed notes should be sent electronically to the Seneschal for
compilation into a master book--- and copies given to each of your deputies
and anyone interested in the position.   The populace should have access to
these notes and they may eventually be posted on the web page, once
compiled.

*GETTING TO KNOW THE CURRENT OFFICERS *

*INFO FOR OFFICERS:*

TONS OF NEW FACES IN THE POPULACE.  They do not know us as a group.

*For the next few populace meetings, we are returning to the process of
having each attending officer and guild head stand up and give a brief
pass-down*.  If you have no information, simply say, “Hi, I’m _____ the
_____ and I am happy to answer any questions or talk to you after the
populace meeting.”

*BARONIAL COLLEGE  /  BOY SCOUT JAMBOREE / ARLINGTON LIBRARY DEMO*

*INFO FOR OFFICERS:*

*Baronial College to be held on October 1, 2016*:  Bids were opened at the
April populace meeting.  As of the officers meeting, *no bids have been
received* for the finance committee to review.

*Arlington Library Demo at the Levitt Pavilion to be held on October 22,
2016; *There have been no emails requesting to coordinate this event.   If
interested, email the Seneschal and Their Excellencies.

*Boy Scout Jamboree Demo to be held November 11, 2016*: There has been one
request to coordinate, however, if interested, email the Seneschal and
Their Excellencies.

*ALL OF THESE need to be cemented NLT mid-June 2016 so that planning can
begin.*

The loaner garb box is in desperate need of tunics of all sizes.  Hospitaler
plans to coordinate with interested members of populace, A&S, and
Clothier’s Guild to get some donations of tunics or cloth to create tunics.

*Due date for Tidings submissions is Saturday, May 28th at Midnight*.  Please
remember word fame and any stories or historical tidbits, patterns,
research, etc.  These are the items that make for great reading.  The last
edition of the tidings was great--- many thanks to everyone who submitted.

(2017).

*For the remainder of May, the front road of the storage facility will be
under construction to repair a pipe.  Use the side entrance which can be
accessed by going a little south of the main entrance and turning right.*

Master Caelin has all of the passwords and is reviewing the site to correct

*All Guild Facebook Pages need to have the Seneschal or Web Minister as
back-up admin*.  This needs to happen immediately, in case something
happens and site access is needed.

*Storage:*  Have had one offer of backyard storage and priced an
exhorbitant mom/pop storage facility--- *needing more options to try to cut
costs.*

*WORD FAME…WORD FAME… WORD FAME.*   This is how the B&B keep tabs on the
good works of the Baronial Family.  We have lots of newcomers, robust A&S
Day attendance.  The B&B also now post updated words to the website, so
check it out!

Their Excellencies love the Elfsea contingents showing up by hordes at
events.  Numbers are great--- Keep it up! They will always attempt to let
you know their progress and pavilion availability.

*DFT SENESCHAL*

Lord Franklin

*DFT had a great Queens.*  >200 attendees with 80 fighters!  (Average
attendance has been 140-ish); Lord Franklin thanked the Barony for
additional support and stated it was a definite team effort.

*Guardian of the Tor* is this weekend (20th – 22nd) and it looks to be a
day of fighting for both rapier and chivalric.  Bear Pits, anyone?  Potlucks
and children’s activities.  Gate opens at 5pm on Friday.

*EXCHEQUER*

*This is Lady Eleanor’s last Officers Meeting as our Exchequer*.

Transition to Lady Astridr will be completed May 31st.

The month of April saw the most checks written since she took office.  By
comparison--- May has been super quiet.

*KNIGHT MARSHAL*

*OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS**; *Active fighters on Wednesday is averaging 4 or
so.  But more are showing up to train the fighters, including a few Dukes
and a Count.

*ARCHERY MARSHAL*

*OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS*; Recent practice on 15th was cancelled due to rain.
Next scheduled practice will be played by ear.  HE Pyro has volunteered to
submit an application for the position and we will await the word of the
Central Archery Marshal when that occurs.

*NAUTILUS PURSUIVANT*

*OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS*; Our interim Nautilus Pursuivant has alerted us
that school is almost over--- so she will be able to get back to
“pursuiving the nautili”.   Lady Cecelia plans to delve into book heraldry
and get caught up on names, devices, and badges that have been recently
submitted.  After school is out--- HERALDRY NIGHTS ARE BACK ON!

*MINISTER OF ARTS & SCIENCES*

Deputy MOAS Auereliana gave the pass down and the numbers on the most
recent A&S Day.  We had >20 participants and many were newcomers!
Outstanding.  Although Lady Liadan will no longer work at the facility---
she has sent word that we will probably  still be able to use it and the
plan is to make it monthly.

Queens Champion had well-attended Children’s Activities and a first: TWO
Queen’s hopes (each bracket had a champion).    If we are to have
Children’s activities at  Guardian, Lady Silvana needs the second back-up
adult.  Contact her at the email listed if you are interested.

*COOKS GUILD*

Master Caelin

*Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Master Caelin’s house.  *

Slower times due to heavy event activity.  Last guild the group learned to
partition chicken and cut 14 pounds.

*CLOTHIERS GUILD*

Lady Silvana

*Meets on the 4th Friday of each month at Lady Silvana’s house, 6-9pm.*

All May meetings cancelled due to heavy event schedule.  June--- all things
back on.

Folks are buying sergers and machines and they have a Facebook page!

*SCRIBAL GUILD*

*Meetings are scheduled as Lady Cecelia’s schedule allows.  *

Calmer month, but turned in lots of scrolls.  She is attempting to keep the
pantry of blank documents well-stocked. She is also in talks with the
Powers that Be regarding Ansteorra original scrolls as the norm.

*ELFSEA ACADEMY*

HL Jeanne-Marie

Academie is currently in hiatus. The next semester begins in July.

Labs will be scheduled soon.   Be on the lookout for posts and emails from
HL Jeanne-Marie.

*EVENT UPDATES*

*Other/Additional Notes:*

Additional thoughts from Their Excellencies:

·      Our Defender Champions have turned in their choices from the Artisan
a la carte menu.  If you have not received specific notification on an item
you offered, you are off the hook for required item.

HOWEVER--- if you still want to make items for the baskets, by all means do!

If your items are time sensitive, feel free to gift the Defender with them
throughout the year.

Also, if you make batches of sweet stuff to bring to events and want to
cordon off a bit to spoil our defenders--- by all means, do!   We want them
to know we appreciate them.

·      Warlord last year had a successful potluck--- we want to do it again
(Saturday).  Plans and a coordinator will be announced.

·      Also, by request, Elfsea will Pavilion next to Steppes at Warlord to
help them build the giant party pavilion for Saturday night.  A great way
to partner.
