Meeting Minutes August 11, 2003

-Newcomers-none

-Donations collected for bed made by Godwin for
current crown.

Much praise was given about the event (MidSummer Fair)

Much praise given for Bowen’s lap-dansing efforts at
the event.

Gisele new Gate’s Edge A&S champion.

Aylwin, Dolphin, Mattius, Natalia, Gisele, Baron
William of the Loch, and Fiametta given ‘thanks’ from
Bowen via Serin (who also deserved a hearty ‘thanks’
for working so hard in the kitchen)

Bowen given thanks from MSF Steward Robine for staying
until 1am cleaning the stove, Natalia and Evelun for
dishes and Mattius for assistance for the awning and
the dancing group for help with the tables.

StarGate event is coming up.
Greek/Roman theme
Triathalon-need to compete in 3 of five tournaments:
Archery
Sheep Toss
Equestrian
Javelin Throw
Heavy Armored Combat

Located at Camp Camwood.
In conjunction with Academy of Rapier.
Will have ‘Roman Baths’ to cool the feet of the
populace.
Clothing is not optional.
Serin is in charge of takedown and asked those of
Gate’s Edge to come and help Saturday night and
Sunday.
Dolphin is in charge of feast.

Snorri-please contact him if you were not at populace.

Storage Unit
Caitlin researched 5 facilities
Two have been chosen to ‘go on’ till next month, when
others on the committee will be available to show
their research.- A1 Quality on Spring Cypress just
East of Champions -$621.60 per year open 5am-10pm and
Nations Storage $720 a year with 24hr access.

Concern spoken about adding number to budget, since
canton populace in ultimately responsible for it.

Will be added to future bids at planning stage.  Must
use ‘profit needed’ in site fee.  Would start with
Bids for next years MSF, which are due by September
populace.

Talmon mentioned a storage unit in Tomball that is $40
per month that info will be brought next month.

If submitting bid for event, add $300 to budget.

Many positive comments made towards using a storeroom.

Autocrat could have ‘shopping list’ to turn in to
chatelaine for events and be in charge of returning
things borrowed for event.

Annes mentioned that her storage unit is available for
use, bringing up cost savings. 

Serin mentioned three problems with using a private
residence/ok of expenditure
Convenience
Mercy of owner’s schedule
Canton has talent, we can arrange fundraisers

Snorri
Agreed with Serin concerning convenience, but
mentioned that canton responsible if an event turns
out being ‘a wash’

Brian
Mentioned reserve is included in budget so event if
there is ‘a wash’ the facility would be covered.

Robin
Donations have been promised as soon as we get a
storage facility.



Aylwin
Digressions made, straying from main topic. .  Strike
least desired (leaving A1 quality and Nations), table
till next month when Eadric is here to discuss the
storatge 
facility he was checking into that is on his way
to/from work.
Vote asked for and passed.

Sabine-Cour d’Amoure
This Thursday we will be working on site tokens at
7:30 in the room used for populace.
Will be making handkerchiefs and stamping them-Gisele
has offered her sewing talents and sewing machine with
roll stitch.

A&S banner, Knife Axe and Spear banner, and circle for
kingdom banner mentioned.  Serin has fixed the Knife
Axe and Spear banner situation and Groa is working on
the circle for the kingdom banner.

Site has been approved for event.  Alcoholic Beverage
permission in pending.

Call for pavilions.
Have two ‘garage style’
Want at least two ‘period’
Godwin may have a period pavilion he would be willing
for us to use.

Fiametta working on a great tapestry.

Snorri
Bawdy bardic circle.  Will teach songs during the day.
 First hour is children friendly.
   
Lillian (Cinnamon) in charge of children’s activities.
 Treasure hunt and puppet shop planned.

Fighting-Double elim with two fields-one French and
one English.  Last four face off with single elim.  If
more than 6 there will be a melee in the afternoon.

Alden Making pass down spear.  Also will have throwing
spear and two throwing axes for prizes.

Custom helm to be made for heavy armored combat
champion.
Need ‘wassle maker’ for bardic circle.

Gisele will be hand-fasting her dead sister’s husband
at the end of the event. 


-Position filled-Mattius is new Gate’s Edge Herald.

-Archery will be held at four pm on August 23rd at
Eadric’s

-Drummer’s guild and Herbalist guild are on hiatus
until further notice.

Aylwin-Bids for MSF 2004 due by September’s populace
meeting.  Bids for 2004 fall event due by January
populace meeting. Thank you for donation at beginning
of populace.
