[Glaslyn] a dedication

Baron of the Steppes baron at steppes.ansteorra.org

Our thank you list is soon to come, but until then I wanted to share with
everyone the words I spoke in Saturday morning court, immediately after our
investiture.

I feel it is important to acknowledge the current state of our barony, and
the factors contributing to that state. So here goes:

To our Canton of Glaslyn, our Baronial Guard, and the good folks of Rio
Rojo: You are our vanguard. You maintain the watch on our borders. The
Steppes prospers in safety due to your vigilance.

To the artisans and guilds of the Steppes: You are the branches and limbs of
the oak. You bear the flower and fruit that are the treasures of the barony.
You hold the leaves that capture the sun, harnessing divine energies.

To our warriors, warlords, and champions: You are the trunk and bark of the
oak. You are the manifestation of our strength. You also through your
toughness prevent invaders or infection.

To those who serve the Barony, including the Companions to the Order of the
Oak of the Steppes and holders of the Acorn of the Steppes and the Grice's
Track: You are the roots of our barony. You are what gives us the strength
to withstand the strongest winds, and you provide the nourishment that
sustains the barony when the seasons are harsh.

And last, but most important, to the former rulers of the Barony of the
Steppes: You are the earth, the foundation, the firmament that has held this
Barony together for 35 years. From your being was given to each of us our
nutrition, our infusion with the Dream and all of those courtly and noble
virtues that we aspire to every day in your honor.

Baron Duncan (and in his presence Baroness Genevieve)
