[Hellsgate] Thoughts on Demo

When I was working to put together an (unofficial) demo on Fort Hood last
month, I learned a bit about what is required. For it to be held on any
unit land, that unit has to sponsor it, there has to be a risk assessment
done, and it gets handled basically like any training event even though it
includes civilian folks. The other option is to work with Morale, Welfare
and Recreation (MWR) to have the event hosted on land set aside for them to
have recreational activities on post. This still requires a little legwork,
but Baroness Daria had done a lot of that legwork for me while I was on
leave. Maybe it came up while I was busy and missed part of the populace
meeting last week, but I didn't hear much about what the plan was. I did
hear about an attempt to form an unofficial group on post, but based on
messages I received while planning my event, that group would not be able to
mention the SCA, recruit for the SCA, or hand out literature. I have
recommended in the past that we host an official fighter practice about once
a month on post, but I did not hear anything about that mentioned recently.

Personally I would love to tap into the Fort Hood community since we are
Stronghold and therefore, by definition, tied to the post. I am more than
willing to work toward getting us in the face of the post.

In Service,
Lord Coenred

Helen has a point. I know if we go to the officals of fort hood maybe we can
get something on the books. Good idea to tap into a steady resource people.
And demos are fun way to promote healthy organizations, that also offer
family as well as single soldiers fun activities.
