I like the idea of web based commentary as a supplement to the status 
quo format.  So long as it is a supplement, it can really only add to 
the overall commenting quality.

Daniel mentioned a concern about snarky comments.  While comments can 
be collected in this manner, they should still be collated with the 
comments sent to Retiarius into a final form.  Retiarius edits for 
some snarkiness.  Once she has produced that final fully collated 
copy, the general online commentary should be removed.  This is both 
to keep the server cleaner (no duplicate copies of old stuff) and to 
remove the unedited thoughts which (however valid) might be offensive 
rather than constructive.
