That precedent dealt specifically only with raptors, specifically owls
and eagles.  On the other hand, granting a CD between an owl close
guardant and a falcon close and not between a Cornish chough close and
a falcon close seems odd.

RfS X.2: "Simple armory does not conflict with other simple armory if
the type of every primary charge is substantially changed."
"Substantial" doesn't refer to, say, pine versus oak or dolphin versus
catfish, but more different types.  I'm not speaking for the Laurel
level, but I would certainly expect X.2 between a quadruped and a
bird.

In the SCA, gray stone is usually treated as argent.  Here, it's not a
rocky wolf, and it's an argent background.  On the other hand,
"proper" was, at one time (but no longer!), allowed to break contrast
rules.
