This probably won't help, but here anyway. If all else fails. The Polish form of
Catherine is Katarzyna, and the usual nickname is Kasia (which is what we call
our daughter). It is properly pronounced KASH-uh, but it is frequently
MISpronounced CASS-ee-uh, so you might want to go that route and just
mispronounce it. If all else fails.
Polish feminine nicknames are almost all -ia's that I can tell. Barbara = Basia,
Mary = Marysia, etc. I don't imagine you'd have trouble documenting the
diminutive of a name like Catherine. Kasia's Katarzyna went through with no
problem.
