It is a modern name and its OK for an 8 year old to use
it but I agree with Mariadonna that it isn't registerable.

To take it further there is precedent ruling that it is not period.
June 1999 LoAR - ATENVELDT Returns
"Erin of Atenveldt - Erin is the submitter's legal name,
and while registerable under the legal name allowance, is
not a period name."

If they want to enjoy the name and come up with something
else when older by all means let them.  The main thing at
that age is to enjoy the SCA.
