(snip) I was asked to check on something for my canton.  In August of 2001,
my records show that a badge we wish to register to the Canton was sent to
Laurel.  There are no other notations on the paperwork. (snip) am I
misunderstanding the timeline and shouldn't be looking for it at this time?
(snip) Where can I check on the status of this badge?

or anything else. Go to

<A HREF="http://www.ansteorra.org/heraldry/hst/index.html">http://www.ansteorra.org/heraldry/hst/index.html</A>

(aka Ansteorran Heraldry page, <A HREF="http://www.ansteorra.org/heraldry/hst/">Index of Ansteorran Heraldic Submissions</A>)

In this case, click on 'G' or 'Gate's Edge' and scroll down to:

Gate's Edge.Badge.
ILoI 7/01 12.
Kingdom accepted 9/01.
In progress.

This means it was item 12 in the July, 2001, ILoI. Kingdom accepted it in
Sept, 2001 (which implies a Sept or Oct LoI). You can go to

<A HREF="http://www.ansteorra.org/heraldry/LoI">http://www.ansteorra.org/heraldry/LoI</A>

(aka <A HREF="http://www.ansteorra.org/heraldry/LoI/">Letters of Intent</A> (LoI) on the Ansteorra Heraldry page)

and open the September LoI and see that the badge was, indeed, item 12 in the
LoI.

So, the badge was in the July ILoI and was actually sent to Laurel & the
College of Arms on the September, 2001, LoI. The CoA gets 3 months to
comment (Oct, Nov, Dec) and the decisions are made the next month (Jan).
Under normal circumstances, we would expect the results (Letter of
Acceptances and Returns = LoAR) about 4-6 weeks later, which would be about
now, so you're dead on schedule. However, they're running a bit late and the
December results just came out, so I'd expect the January results in 3-4
weeks.

(I remember seeing the paperwork for this go by at a January CoA decision
meeting, so it's not lost or anything. But I participate in the name
decisions only so I haven't a clue about the armory results. And the results
aren't final until the LoAR is sent out, so I'd keep my mouth shut anyway.
Believe it or not, I *can* keep my mouth shut; I just don't do it very often.)
