Oh, livery on a belt.  I don't know that they did *that* particular
display in period, but it wouldn't suprise me unduly.

You should consider plumping for one of the period practices: livery
and maintenance provided by your lord.  By my fealty contract, I am
supposed to get one suit of clothing per year (she simply happens to
be in arrears, but I did get several sets of tunics out of it).
