A "garden rose' is not a "a rose with a stem and a couple of leaves".
That's a rose slipped and leaved.

A (heraldic) rose is a stylized flower, usually but not always with
five petals. A garden rose is a naturall-looking modern rose, with
lots of petals. Garden roses are unknown to period heraldry
(so far as we have ever seen), and we currently registere them
blazoned as "roses". A garden rosebud (a modern rosebud) is
(so far as we know) two steps from period practice and is now
unregisterable.
