[ANSTHRLD] Invitation to Pick Norse Onomastic Nits

Greetings to both lists, and sorry for multiple posts:

I have an Icelandic persona, and my research shows that my name, consisting
of a given name, a nickname, and a patronymic, would be written in that
order.  My wife, however, has a Norwegian persona, and we're understanding
that in her case it would be given/patronymic/nickname.

Several questions regarding this, in no particular order.  Would there be a
difference in how the components would be organized based on gender?  What
about location, Iceland vs. Norway?  What if my wife never used the
patronymic until her arrival in Iceland, where national law dictated the use
of a patronymic?  Does anyone have a copy of the Gragas and can check on
when that law was enacted?  Is it too early in the morning to be thinking
about such things, especially without caffeine?
