Now we see the value of multiple people filling out award report forms
in court ...
I had that happen to me twice. I did the period thing: I asked
witnesses to attest to it. (There's a *reason* the early charters
said "Witnesseth:".) In one case, it was the court herald, who knew
me well; in the other, it was the baron of the time. I got them to
sign texts of the form "I attest that I was at the event ___ on ___
and saw Daniel de Lincoln get a ___. Signed: ___". (When I got Hal
to sign that this last Twelfth Night, he said it was a weird feeling
signing that: it would probably be the last time in his life he'd sign
anything as "Edwin Steppes". -- In his case, it was not "saw DdL get"
but "inducted DdL into the Order of the Oak". I also did a pencil
rubbing of my Oak medallion.)
