I'm planning on attending and can certainly teach classes.

I'm responding to the list before I fill out the form, though, because I want
to see what classes folks are interested in. Once I get a feel for that,
I'll provide all the class info.

So, to those of you planning to attend AHSS, what would you like to see in
the names classes area? Anything in particular?

The classes I have recently updated (and presented at KWHS as filler classes)
are classes that I've presented before, so I don't know how many folks would
be interested in them at AHSS - it kinda depends on interest and if folks
have attended locations where they've been offered before.

These two classes are (previous venues noted in parenthesis):
     - Irish Names [an overview of names in Ireland during
our period] (KWHS 2003, at least two AHSS)
     - a class on how to create SCA household names
based on Irish Gaelic clan names (KWHS 2002, 2006)

I will be updating my "Period Name Construction" class to present it at
Pennsic. If folks would like to see it at this AHSS, I can update it sooner
and have it ready for AHSS. (This class is a general overview of naming
practices in various cultures. It's been presented at several AHSS in recent
years.)

Depending on what folks are interested in, the other thought I had was to
have a panel type class along the lines of:

Name Resources: what's good, what's not, and how to
     tell the difference

The idea is that we could drag out a variety of books that folks could pass
around, look through, and discuss. The "how to tell the difference" portion
would definitely apply to web articles as well as printed sources.

So, those of you attending AHSS, what would you like to see for classes? Any
of these? Something different?

Mari
