[ANSTHRLD] Help needed with Latin Name/Word - Osedax

Help, please!

I have a submitter who heard the word <Osedax> and fell in love with it. He
likes the way that it sounds. It is Latin, and is a genus of deep-sea worms.
Osedax is Latin for "bone-eating". This happens to be a recently named genus
(within the past few years).

Has anyone heard of any name that sounds like this? I do not even know where
to begin. His preference would be for an early Roman name, BUT he would just
like to have 'his' name. He does not care what language or period is from.
He simply asked me if I could place the word in 'our' time period.

I do not think I can place the word/name in period, but I am hoping to find
an idea for a possible alternative. He is going mostly for the sound. Does
anyone have any ideas on where I could even begin to look?

He did tell me that he submitted a name during Pensic - <Otes Dackes>. He
seems to be able to live with that name, but would prefer something closer,
if possible.

Any help, or any direction to look in would be muchly appreciated.

Thank you,
Luciana

problem is when you have to ask yourself to repeat the question.....
