[ANSTHRLD] A Question Appropriate to Fall - Leaves

Greetings!

I have been asked to research a European equivalent for the Paulownia (sometimes spelled Pawlonia or Paulonia) leaf. The tree originates from China, and my client has a Japanese persona, so he would have known about it. He's worried, however, that he won't be able to use it as is due to the Society's "euro-centric nature".

The O&A isn't completely helpful, as the two usages of this type of leaf ar from 1982 and 1984, and are the mispelled versions:

Macsen ap Rhys
The following device associated with this name was registered in August of 1984 (via Ansteorra): Sable, a spray of three pawlonia leaves, blossomed to chief, and on a chief argent two increscents sable.

Minowara Kiritsubo

The following badge associated with this name was registered in December of 1982 (via Atlantia): Sable, three paulonia tendrils conjoined in pall surmounted by three paulonia leaves conjoined in pall inverted, the upper two tendrils and the lower two leaves embowed to the chief in annulo, argent.

Are we worried for nothing, and will still be able to blazon it as a "paulownia leaf" anyway?

Thank you!

Konrad Novak
