[ANSTHRLD] a question about supporters on achievements

Other way around -- dexter supporter is to the right of the shield from the POV
of the person holding the shield, not the observer of the shield. Same as the
dexter side of the shield is the right side of the shield from the POV of the
person holding the shield. In plainer English, in heraldry your right is your
left and your left is your right. So the dexter supporter is the one to the
*left* side of the shield as you look at it.
Unfortunately, I have the painful duty of pointing out that you aren't entitled
to register supporters yet, since you don't have a noble title separate from the
BiF. Registering personal supporters prior to successful completion of your
tenure as Steppes B&B is anticipating the future acquisition of the CB. The CB
for retiring BiF's who were not previously CB's is granted at the pleasure of
the Crown, and while we all hope that nothing goes terribly wrong, past history
has taught us to take nothing for granted (literally) in this area. It would be
an awful mess to register supporters now and then have them revoked if something
unanticipated happened. We don't register supporters & coronet to first-time
Crowns who have not yet completed their reigns either, and for the same reason.
Robin, can you explain this more clearly, since You Were There when they were
coming up with these rules?
(And why didn't y'all write all of this down somewhere back then?)
