To be precise, the College of Arms Administrative Handbook has
A. Names Which May be Registered to Individuals - Names which may
be registered to individuals are divided into several
administrative categories.
1. Primary Society Name - The single personal name under which
records of registration are maintained. ...
2. Alternate Society Name - Any personal name(s) registered for an
individual other than his or her Primary Society Name. An
Alternate Society Name may be registered alone or may be
associated with a badge. Records for both name and armory will be
maintained under the individual's Primary Society Name.
So, to be precise, the device is attached to the Primary Society
Name. Any Alternate Society Names are also filed in the same folder,
with the Primary Society Name on it. Any badges for the Alternate
Society Names go into the same folder. On the Letter of Intent, it
would be listed like
Dietrich Kempenich von Eltz. Alternate name Hanse Cleermaeckere
and badge. Argent, a brown hen proper.
and in the Armorial as
Dietrich Kempenich von Eltz|201108X|b|Argent, a brown hen
proper.|(For Hanse Cleermaeckere)
("|b|" for badge)
Hanse Cleermaeckere|201108X|AN|For Dietrich Kempenich von Eltz|
("|AN|" for Alternate Name)
Meaning that Dietrich Kempenich von Eltz is the primary name, and
though the other two are also findable, they're still under Dietrich
etc.
Or, in very brief:
Yes.
