I've been sitting and comparing the Charlemagne and Tusser lists, and so far,
I've found the following matches <G>:
sage, rosemary, lettuce, cress, pennyroyal, parsley, fennel, endive, savory
(winter and summer?), mints, tansy, beet, orach, coleworts, leek, onion,
succory (aka chicory), clary, and "French" mallow (not sure whether it's
common mallow or marshmallow). I think "nep" is a word for turnip, and betony
and turnip are listed as appearing in other Charlemagne documents.
I haven't identified all of the plants on the Tusser list yet, there may be
more matches. I just find it interesting to see how many of the plants Tusser
was recommending had been in use since Charlemagne's time (about half, maybe
more).
